The Story of G-Shock and MR-G by Kikuo Ibe

We captured Kikuo Ibe’s live apperance on a home shopping network stream, in case you missed it. The father of G-Shock made an inspirational presentation about the creation of the original G-Shock watch in 1983 and the all-metal MR-G line in 1996. Mr. Ibe talked about the technical problem-solving that resulted in coming up with the floating module design and also the challenge of leading a group of young Casio engineers to create the MR-G line. His story is accompanied by a slideshow presentation with graphics and animation. It’s great to hear the story directly from Kikuo Ibe himself, and he also does the presentation in English. After the presentation, Mr. Ibe stayed for the duration of the show signing G-Shock t-shirts and boxes for some lucky viewers and customers. The Casio-themed show covered a wide range of watches for sale, including G-Shock models like the Rangeman, Frogman, GPW-1000 Gravitymaster, MTG-S1000V-1A, and the $6,000 MRG-G1000RT-1A.
