Update: Many customers who ordered the GW5000-1 have reported that their orders were placed on backorder, then cancelled and refunded. The watch is no longer available at the Casio Outlet site.
The G-Shock GW5000-1 (a.k.a. GW-5000-1JF in Japan) is currently on sale at outlet.casio.com for only $180 (with shipping to the U.S. only). This Japan-made model is typically only sold in Japan, with a usual price of around $300 if buying it from outside Japan. (The outlet states that the list price is $300.) This is the first time we’ve seen the GW5000-1 sold by an official retailer in the U.S.
The GW5000-1 is considered one of the most desirable G-Shock watches by longtime fans and watch enthusiasts. It is a tribute to the original G-Shock DW-5000C-1 from 1983, with a clean design and modern features added like Tough Solar power and Multi-Band 6 auto radio timekeeping. Like the original G-Shock, the GW5000-1 has a stainless steel inner case and a screw-lock case back. The case back also has a DLC coating. If you only buy one G-Shock, many would recommend this as the one to buy. Despite usually being a Japan-only model, it is one of our top five G-Shock picks.
This is an excellent chance to get a GW5000-1 at an amazing price with a U.S. warranty. The drawback to this deal and buying watches from the Casio Outlet is that the packaging may have imperfections or the manual may be missing, but there is nothing wrong with the watch itself.
As we were writing this, the DW5035E-7 and DW5735E-7, from the 35th Anniversary Skeleton Gold Series, were also added to the Casio Outlet for $132 each. This price is much lower than the list price of $220, and these 2018 watches are sold out everywhere else. These watches are also origin tribute models with a screw-back case, but they do not have solar power or Multi-Band 6. They have a very unique look with a clear skeleton bezel and band matched with an inner stainless steel case with a gold IP that can be seen through the bezel.
