Base 550 has one of the coolest G-Shock Instagrams (@base550) featuring his custom made paracord bands. We especially like his use of color and how the cord patterns match the watches so well. Along with combining solid colors, he also has some camouflage and psychedelic cord styles. Base 550 has two types of buckles available, the standard snap buckle and a special quick-release magnetic “M-Buckle.” (Unfortunately, the magnetic buckle will interfere with compass sensors.)
Bands made out of parachute cord not only look cool and wear light and comfortably with good breathability, but they also serve a secondary purpose, as they can be unraveled and used as survival gear in emergency situations.
Base 550 is based in Taiwan and ships worldwide. The website at base550.bigcartel.com has some items for sale (including strap adapters and buckles for those who want to make their own bands). The price for a custom band is listed as US$55, and interested buyers are instructed to contact Base 550 by direct message on Instagram.
