Casio officially announced the previously leaked G-Shock 2500 Series, featuring an all-new analog design with the resin GAC-2500 and stainless steel-covered GMC-2500 series. As expected from the leaks, there are four GAC-2500 models, three GMC-2500 models, and two GMC-2500D models with a stainless steel band.
Casio launched a special page for the 2500 Series at gshock.casio.com/intl, which includes a promotional video directed by Yoshirotten and scored by Ryuichi Sakamoto. The page also includes links to a Lookbook page and Development Story article, as well as direct product links to all nine models. The launch page emphasizes the influence of the original G-Shock DW-5000C as well as a minimalist aesthetic and “Depth of Shadow” design concept. Like the GA-V01, the 2500 Series features a Magnetic Holding Structure that allows the minute hand (Shock Release Hand) to self-adjust after hard impacts.
One noticeable detail in the new images and promotional material is that the black GAC-2500-1A (below) has brownish accents on the dial rather than white or gray.
While it’s apparent that Casio has high expectations for the 2500 Series and is hoping to make it the fifth classic series (among the 5000-5600, 6900, 110, and 2100), it remains to be seen what impact it will have or if its popularity will be near the level of the 2100 Series. Judging by the pre-release coverage, we expect the initial reception to be enthusiastic.
The GAC-2500 and GMC-2500 are scheduled for a November 2026 release in Japan and Asia, with other regions to be announced.
