Casio CRW-001-1 functional digital watch ring announced for December

The previously leakedCasio CRW-001-1JR functional watch ring was announced in Japan and is scheduled for a December 2024 release in Japan with a tax-included price of 19,800 yen. The original article at Impress Watch (watch.impress.co.jp) features images from what appears to be an official Casio press exhibition in Japan, so it looks like the ring will not be delayed into 2025. The ring is notable for being a fully working watch and resembling the original G-Shock 5000 series. It is a special release for the Casio Watch 50th Anniversary and is expected to sell out quickly.
Additional details were also revealed. The ring is 1/10 the size of a normal watch, measuring 25.2 x 19.5 x 6.2 millimeters and weighing 16 grams. The ring size is 22 with an inner diameter of 20 millimeters. Two spacers are included for adjustment to size 19 and size 16. The watch ring is water-resistant for everyday use, meaning it should be resistant to rain and light splashes.
There is a flash alert-like (Time Flashing Light) function that flashes the LED light at the top of every hour or for 20 seconds at a pre-set time, but there is no alarm sound. The watch can display the date and day of the week but not simultaneously with the time. Other features include 24-hour time format, auto calendar (with 28 days for February), dual time, 1/100-second stopwatch, and LED light. The quartz movement has an accuracy of +/-30 seconds per month. The battery life is approximately two years, and the single SR621SW battery is replaceable by a Casio repair center. Previous images of the case back showed that the ring is made of stainless steel.

Update: The ring watch will also be released outside of Japan.
Update 2: The Japanese name (CRW-001-1JR) ending in “JR” led us to believe that it was a limited edition release, but after reports of a restocking coming to Japan and the United States, we believe that Casio may still be producing it to meet the worldwide demand.
