Where to buy discounted G-Shock and Casio watches in Singapore

On a recent trip to Singapore, I was shocked at how expensive the hotels are now but pleasantly surprised to find that there are many independent watch stores where you can purchase G-Shock and Casio watches at big discounts. Unlike some of the stores in Hong Kong, the stores mentioned here do not carry imported Japanese (JDM) models, but they do carry many Asian releases that were not released in the U.S. including limited editions. All the stores mentioned here are authorized dealers, and their watches include a one-year Casio warranty (but this warranty is limited to Singapore and is not an international warranty). Please note that these photos do not represent the full inventories of these stores, and there are many more watches to be discovered if you visit them.

There are many more G-Shock watches inside 3D Watch Shop.

Located in The Bencoolen building in the Bugis shopping district, 3D Watch Shop was the standout store for me when it comes to discounted G-Shock watches as well as limited editions in Singapore. They have many new releases, as well as many older and discontinued models. They are selling the recent Mudman GW-9500 models for only S$343 (~US$254), when the MSRP is S$529 and US$380, so we’re talking about some serious discounts here. Some other notable prices included the Mudmaster GG-B100 for S$348 (~US$257), GM-B2100D-1 for S$599 (~US$443), and GA-B2100 models for S$167 (~US$123). The lowest priced models appeared to be various DW-9052 watches for S$78 (~US$58).

The store has many helpful employees who speak English clearly. I found the staff to be very patient and thankfully not pushy at all. (I did not tell them I was from G-Central.) I was told that the G-Shock watches are usually discounted around 35-40% off, with new limited editions around 25-30% off. While the prices are not immediately apparent, the last three numbers of the sticker on the tag (with a 5-digit number starting with “20”) is the price.

I saw some unexpected models such as the limited edition Master in Navy Blue Gulfmaster GWN-1000NV-2A (S$454) and GWN-Q1000NV-2A (S$755) from 2016, the black Frogman GWF-D1000-1 (S$1,244), and the black and gold Mudman G-9300GB-1 (S$192). The blue-accented Frogman GWF-D1000B-1 was also in stock. There were also many older and rare limited editions and Lover’s Collection paired sets in stock, along with new limited editions like the 40th Anniversary Clear Remix Series.

3D Watch Shop sells new and older limited edition releases, along with standard new releases.

3D Watch Shop also provides a battery changing service for S$10-S$12 with a G-Shock and Baby-G battery costing S$6-S$10. Service and accessories must be paid for in cash, but the store will accept credit cards for watch purchases and will process a tax refund transaction so that a GST refund can be claimed at the airport. If paying by credit card, the price will be 3% higher than the cash price.

Other Watch Stores in The Bencoolen

There are similar watch stores also located in The Bencoolen such as May May Watch Dealer, Wins United Watch, and a few others. These stores may not have the G-Shock selection of 3D Watch Shop, but it’s possible that you might find different models or a slightly better price on some models. All of these stores also carry Baby-G, Pro Trek, and a full range of more affordable Casio models, as well as other brands like Seiko. Most of these stores have a social media presence, but they really need to be visited in person to experience the full inventory.

May May Watch Dealer and Wins United Watch also offer great deals on G-Shock and Casio watches.

Mustafa Centre

Mustafa Centre might be a better shopping destination for locals than tourists, but it it is recommended for certain types of products like watches and electronics. Though its sprawling layout can be overwhelming, the watch section is on the ground floor next to Exit 1, which is the first door next to the money changer when walking from the Farrer Park MRT station (exit F).

Mustafa offers many affordable G-Shock colorways and a few higher-end models like the Mudmaster GWG-1000 and GWG-2000.

It’s quite a sight to the see piles of Casio watches and long rows of G-Shock cases. I spotted many recent models such as the DW-6600PC-5 (S$119), and there were a few high-end models like the Mudmaster GWG-2000 but not many Pro Trek watches. Mustafa mostly has a large G-Shock selection of affordable colorways as well as a huge selection of digital and analog Casio models. The G-Shock prices here, while typically not as good as The Bencoolen shops, are lower than the Casio Singapore MSRP and more in line with U.S. list prices, and there are some instances where they are a lot lower, such as the GWG-2000 models for S$884 each (~US$653). There are a few higher-end solar G-Shock models available, but there is a lack of the more affordable solar models compared to the stores at The Bencoolen, and I didn’t see any GA-B2100 models. Most of the watches have a price that is clearly marked with a sticker.

Mustafa also carries all the best-selling and affordable Casio watches.

You’ll find piles of (real) Casio watches at Mustafa Centre.

If you’re also shopping for other types of products at Mustafa, it is highly recommended to familiarize yourself with the store map before going, which is found under the “Find Department” link on the website.

Conclusion

All of these independent watch stores in Singapore are highly recommended, but there are some reasons why you might want to buy G-Shock watches from the official “G-Shock Casio” (formerly G-Factory) stores in the major shopping malls. These smaller shops may not get the latest releases at the same time, and the official stores may sometimes be running certain promotions and giveaways. There were some G-Shock watches that I didn’t find in any of these shops, such as the DW-H5600, 40th Anniversary Recrystallized Series, and MT-G and MR-G models. Some models and series are not discounted as much as you will find on Amazon.com, so you won’t find the absolute lowest price for a G-Shock if you are from the U.S. (but the DW-9052 models at The Bencoolen come close).

Overall, I was impressed with the prices and selections of these stores, and many fans will prefer them over the predictability and higher prices of the official mall stores. While it may not be economical for most people to fly to Singapore for the sole purpose of buying G-Shock watches, it is certainly worthwhile to seek them out if you are already there.
