The G-Shock Soho Store in New York City will be hosting a launch party on October 25, 2019, for the release of the Yoon Hyup x G-Shock collaboration watch. Yoon Hyup is a Brooklyn-based artist who was born in Seoul. He started painting walls and doing live paintings with DJs in the early 2000s, using a distinctive and spontaneous style with thick lines and dots, inspired by skateboarding and improvisational music. Yoon has exhibited his artwork around the world, and one of his recent projects was designing Mickey Mouse t-shirts and sweaters for the Mickey Art collaboration with Uniqlo.
The watch is a DW-6900LU-3 with a custom band that pays homage to New York City. The line and dot patterns are Morse code that represent the five boroughs of New York along with the address of the G-Shock Soho Store (454 West Broadway). Stylized “NYC” initials appear on the upper and lower band.
