Casio officially announced its latest Master of G series: the G-Shock Mudman GW-9500. The series is scheduled to be released in Japan on July 14, 2023, with a tax-included price of 55,000 yen per model, with details for other countries to be announced. (The U.S. price is expected to be around $380.) The launch models include the black GW-9500-1, orange and black GW-9500-1A4, and green and black GW-9500-3. The module number is 3553, and according to the case back covers, these models are made in Thailand.
The GW-9500 has a Carbon Core Guard structure measuring 56.7 x 52.7 x 14.8 millimeters and weighing 81 grams. Although it initially looks large with its rugged bezel guards, the watch has a reduced bezel height and is relatively thin compared to other Master of G models. The previous Mudman G/GW-9300 is 50.8 mm wide 18.2 mm thick, and the Rangeman GW-9400 is 53.5 mm wide and 18.2 mm thick. The case, bezel, and band of the GW-9500 are made of bio-based resins.
The GW-9500-1A4 and GW-9500-3 are the first Casio watches with both a duplex display and an inverted style of display. Instead of the colored pointers seen on the GW-9500-1, the pointers on the inverted models appear in a similar shade as the digits.

The Master of G line includes advanced professional-grade watches like the Mudman, which is shock-resistant, mud and dust-resistant (including the protected cylindrical buttons), and water-resistant to 200 meters. The GW-9500 has Tough Solar power with a power-saving function and Multi-Band 6 for automatic time adjustment if within range of the six radio transmitters located in North America, Europe (2), China, and Japan (2). The Triple Sensor includes a pressure sensor with an altimeter and barometer, compass, and thermometer. The duplex LCD includes a layer with pointers that is used for compass bearing readings (including a bearing memory to point to a target destination) and the barometric pressure differential indicator.
Like the previous Mudman series, the GW-9500 is ideal for use in harsh environments, and the expanded features that are comparable to the Rangeman GW-9400 make it the most advanced Mudman watch.
Like the Rangeman GW-9400, the GW-9500 has sunrise and sunset time display. Other features include world time, 1/10-second stopwatch, countdown timer (24 hours), 5 daily alarms with 1 snooze, hourly time signal, full auto LED backlight (with selectable duration), full auto-calendar, and button tone on/off.
Other than the large duplex display, a major difference between the GW-9500 and the Rangeman GW-9400 is that the Rangeman has a 40-record manual memory (with a dedicated time stamp button) for saving altitude, barometric pressure, temperature, bearing, and time data. The GW-9500 does not have this, but it does have the auto log data function for the altimeter and trek log data for 14 altimeter records (including high/low altitudes, auto cumulative ascent and descent). The Rangeman also has a dedicated button to start the stopwatch from timekeeping mode, and the stopwatch measures in a more precise increment of 1/100-second versus 1/10-second for the GW-9500.
The Rangeman GW-9400 was not originally listed as being mud-resistant, but it was previously labeled and marketed as such by Casio America. It was the first G-Shock to feature the protected cylindrical button structure seen on the GW-9500 and the Mudmaster line.

I will eagerly wait for this model to arrive at my country. This watch looks spectacular.
So it’s the same as my Rangeman but the clever marketing is trying to make it better. Lovely watch for someone who is new to Master G but I will not upgrade.
The larger display, second display layer with compass pointers, thinner size, and lighter weight arguably make it better in some ways.
No, it’s not. It doesn’t have a time/date stamp like the 9400. And for me this function is extremely important. In fact, I’m waiting for the successor to the Rangeman 9400. I don’t like this Mudman.

Probably not. Mudmaster GWG-1000 and GWG-2000 have sapphire glass.

Sooo do I wait for this watch or do I buy something else? I have had the G-9300 for idk 12 years or so? I think I am due for a new watch. I am an avid outdoorsman and I work with my hands. My mudman has been through hell and back and is still a monster. I would like something somewhat similar. Any suggestions or help is appreciated!
