The highly anticipated GWG-1000 Mudmaster is now available for sale. This new model combines features of the Mudman and Rangeman with an analog/digital hybrid display. It has a case design that looks like a cross between an aviation G-Shock and the Rangeman, giving it a tough and tactical appearance. Model numbers are GWG-1000-1A (black), GWG-1000-1A3 (black with olive band), and GWG-1000-1A9 (black with yellow band). List price is $750.
The GWG-1000 is designed to withstand harsh environments like the desert or mud. It has a protected button structure like the Rangeman. In addition to mud resistance the watch is also resistant to heavy vibration. Like the Rangeman, the Mudmaster features the Triple Sensor with compass bearing, altimeter/barometer, and thermometer. It also has Tough Solar charging and Multi-Band 6 radio time synchronization along with the standard shock and water resistance (200 meters). Other specs include low temperature resistance to -10°C or 14°F, world time (29 cities, DST on/off), stopwatch (24 hours, modes: elapsed time, split time, 1st and 2nd place times), countdown timer (max 60 minutes), 5 daily alarms, hourly time signal, auto-calender, and dual LED backlights for the analog and digital displays. The watch measures 59.5 × 56.1 × 18.0 mm and weighs approximately 100 grams. Pictured is the GWG-1000-1A3.
The new Mudmaster is a tactical-looking watch that combines advanced technical features with extreme durability and takes the analog-style G-Shock to another level. Casio has been focusing on analog designs for its high-end G-Shock watches and it will be interesting to see how this trend continues in future models. The GWG-1000 will be getting a lot of attention as one of the premier G-Shock models and it is further proof of the brand’s ongoing commitment to high-end watches.

Added more info to end of post
too much price.casio is heading in wrong direction.for 500$ you can get garmin fenix 3!no g shock must cost more than 300 dollars
LMAO you can’t compare the fenix 3 to this. they are no where near the same class LMAO gtfo
Kashif or whoever, Casio isn’t heading in the wrong direction. There’re G shock that cost less than $100.
This mudmaster is meant for those who requires a watch this tough, those who defend your ass when you’re sleeping.
Else, put it bluntly it’s meant for people who can afford it.
That’s ironic. You make a fair point about their being cheaper g-shocks, but as someone who has been waiting for a watch with this combination of features for a long time and does the defending you mention for a living I certainly can’t afford one. My previous Mudman gave nearly 8 years of faithful service before it literally fell apart and I would expect this one to last as well.
Is it unreasonable to wish that the digital parts illuminated along with the analog parts ? I know I can’t really see the digital with the analog light.
The Mudmaster actually has two LED lights, one for the analog display and one for the digital display. It is probably harder to see because it’s a reverse LCD display.
Thank you for all efforts to answer these many queries.
I wanted to buy Mudmaster GWG1000-1A3.
Please be kind and explain the meaning of Reverse LCD display.
Is it hard to read the time? On the same lines of Mudmaster, which watch is better with display and time reading?
Instead of dark digits, the background is dark and the digits are light. In bright light and looking at it straight on it is not a problem but in lower light and at angles a reverse LCD is more difficult to read. All the GWG-1000 models have a reverse LCD display.
If i buy this from japan or China. Will the clock be as i would have bought it here, in Sweden. Or is it different menus?languages?
Yes, it will be the same. G-Shock functions, menus, and LCD displays are always shown in English only. If you need the instruction manual in English you can download it here.
Thanks for the information and thanks for this website!
Does any one know if the ABC sensors in this GWG-1000 use the most recent sensor technology? Triple Sensor Version 3?
Yes it is the Triple Sensor Version 3.
If I buy any of the 3 mudmaster, can I change any of the colour straps? Thanks
Yes but it might be hard to find replacement straps right now.
When will mudmaster series be available in india ?
Sorry I don’t know. You can try contacting Casio India.
magicjude – I ordered an extra yellow band for my mudmaster military green and it will cost me $115, it’s expensive for me but I ordered it anyway, since it will be available 60-90days from now I hope Casio can still reduced it’s price at least half so I can buy other colors available . This is a Great watch I used it everyday even at home , and the product pays for it’s price…
Got GWG in November in the green band. It’s awesome. I do construction work and I’m an outdoors type person so far it has held up good. I don’t believe I will mess it up on the construction site. Only complaint is that the rubberized plastic bezel has a matte black finish because of its size it rubs on the inside of my jacket sleeve. Now it is becoming shiny in spots that come in contact with long sleeve clothing. So basically the matte finish is getting a Polish from clothing.
Where can I buy a yellow band for the mudmaster??? Thanks
You can try asking PacParts

i have a rescue red mudmaster and i have noticed that every time i press the mode button i hear a small noise like a squeak. is this something normal?
Yes that is normal but you can set it so it doesn’t beep when you press the buttons. See section E-99 in the manual here. http://support.casio.com/en/manual/manualsearch.php?cid=009&MODULE=5463
Thank you. Actually what i mean is that this noise is like a creak, not the normal beep noise that all buttons do when you press them. in general i find the mode button looser compared to the other ones. This is what i wanted to know if it is normal.
Did this noise ever go away for you? I just received my Mudmaster and mine does the same thing. Mode button is just slightly more loose than the others… with a squeaky / creaky noise.
And mine does the same. Very annoying.
Any fixes? Warranty claim?
Yes its normal. A lot of us having it
Just received mine, it also has a squeaky/noisy mode button, this button also looks and feels looser than all the other buttons. Found some people complaining about this online… I wonder if they all have it?
Hi can you tell me if the band of the gg -1000 mudmaster Will fit on the New gwg mudmaster
I’m getting a GWG-1000GB-1A but what the difference between this and GWG-1000GB-1ADR? Is that export set?
Yes “DR” means it’s an export model.
I’m in dubai…I want this mudmaster ….where I get this new model…?
You can try here https://www.facebook.com/GShockDxB/
Hi,
Anybody interested in a brand new genuine Casio Mudmaster Gg-1000 black resin strap ?
Ray
Hi All,
Other than the slightly higher cost and that it is for the japanese market, what does the Japanese distribution version GWG-1000-1AJF have over the GWG-1000-1A? Do both versions have saffire face and carbon fiber insert bands? Thanks
They are the same, but Mudmaster watches do not have carbon fiber insert bands. If the model number is the same before the JF or JR suffix then it has the same features.
Hi
I was talking to Casio trough facebook today and when i asked what the difference between buying an GWG 1000 in Sweden compared to buying a DR model was they said that a watched bought in Europe would intercept the signal from an antenna in Germany to calibrate time and that a Japanese model would only intercept the signal from japan cause of another radio frequency. So to my question, is this true? Will the DR watch intercept the signal or can i change the frequency on my own so it does? (i live in Sweden) And if it dont do I really need time calibration through radio transmitting? I would be happy if just the summer/winter time worked.
Please scroll down and read what i pasted from their website.
Best regards
Emil.
The following is copied from the specs of a GWG-1000 at G-shocks website.
Multi-Band Atomic Timekeeping (US, UK, Germany, Japan, China)
Receives time calibration radio signals which keep the displayed time accurate
Auto receive function (up to 6 times per day/up to 5 times per day for China)
Manual receive function
Signal: US WWVB, UK MSF, Germany DCF77, Japan JJY40/JJY60, China BPC
Frequency: US 60kHz, UK 60kHz, Germany 77.5kHz, Japan 40/60kHz, BPC 68.5kHz
And this is from Casio Europe/Swedens site.
Whether you are in Europe, North America and Japan or parts of Canada, Central America and China – once the watch has been set to the local time zone, it receives the relevant signal and shows the exact time. In many countries, it also sets summer and winter on their own.
With the Multi-Band 6 feature the watch can receive the signals from all six transmitters in the five different countries. It is not limited to only one transmitter or one country. Yes, just set the home city and it should work if you are within range of the transmitter. Keep in mind some parts of Sweden are not in range but Stockholm should be. The DR suffix just means the watch is designated for export outside Japan.
You live in seattle Washington what is the time zone setting?
Will there be a mudmaster with a quad sensor soon ?
I don’t think so because the Mudmaster is more of a “land” model while the Frogman and Gulfmaster are the “sea” models, but I suppose it is possible…
Can a NATO Watch Strap be used on the Casio G-Shock Mudmaster GWG-1000-1A3 Watch? If so, what size?
Mudman & Mudmaster…which are more suitable for Female?
I would think the Mudman since it is smaller, but big watches can look good on females too.
Do they make a GWG 1000 1A3 that has a positive display instead of a negative one. It has all the features Im looking for except that one
Unfortunately there is currently no GWG-1000 model with a positive LCD display. Perhaps that will change in the future.
Hi, is there any difference between GWG-1000-1A3DR and GWG-1000-1A3ER other than price? I’m working in India where the former is available for equivalent of £450, whereas it’s listed for £660 on the UK site. I’ve bought G-Shock in India in the past which did have a difference (didn’t have the multi band 6 feature), but I can’t see any immediate differences between these models other than ~£210!
It’s the same. The DR suffix means it’s meant for export outside Japan. The ER suffix means it’s meant for the European market. It is the same model.
Great, thank you!
G-Central…..you rock!! All queries dealt with with complete precision. Kind of like the watches in question. And that’s all I got to say about that.
What does mean an additional letters ‘ER’ in the type of watch, ex. GWG-1000-1AER?
It means that watch is designated to be sold in the European market. Otherwise it is the same as any other GWG-1000-1A model.
Do you know where I could still get the official rescue red mudmaster?
No sorry, it seems to be sold out everywhere.
Is there? Or will there be available metal band for GWG-1000?
Thanks
No, and probably not.
Hi. Can u tell me please what there are different prices at the same model gwg 1000? I leave in Romania and there are 4 different prices between colors. Are there any other difference beside colours? Thank you
They are the same other than the colors. Some colors have limited production runs, or use ion plating on the metal parts for different color accents, so that will make it more expensive.
I need help.
I bought this Casio G-Shock MudMaster GWG 1000.
The LCD has a black background.
Is there any feature which can invert the colours of the display ?
I am used to the ProTrek which had a clear background with white digits.
No you cannot invert the LCD display.
Thankyou.
I was looking at the GWG1000-1AJF 2015 model but now I see that the GWG1000-1A3 was just released 4/2018 and is this a better watch?
It actually came out at the same time. They are the same watch, just different colors.
Ahh thank you very much
What does 1a3cr means? I had the 1a3 before.
It’s the same, the “CR” just means it is meant for export outside Japan.
Is there any other difference then the color between gwg 1000 1a3 and gwg 1000 gb,thanks.
Yeah the functions are the same and just the colors are different. Also, I think the the GWG-1000GB might not have luminous index markers like the GWG-1000-1A3, just the hands and 12-3-6-9 numbers are luminous.
Only thing that lets this tough G-Shock down is the light, my last Mudman illuminated the watch so well, you could read the digital screen. The GWG1000-1A3 has no lighting for the screen. I used to push the illuminated light button walk around the house using it as a torch it was that bright.
What is the best selling color. i have ordered a GWG1000-1A3 for about $450 and the other color are cheaper. The All Black model is the cheapest. I have read in one of the answers that few models are ion plated. Is the 1A3 model ion platted. PLease help.
I don’t have any official figures, but I would guess it’s the GWG-1000-1A3 or GWG-1000-1A1. Some parts like the screws, buttons, and band keeper may be ion plated on some models. The bezels on all GWG-1000 models are made of resin, so they would not be ion plated. The front screws on the GWG-1000-1A3 appear to be ion plated.
Looks like there’s a new model out. Looks awful but hey at least it’s new!

G-SHOCK LEOPARD WILDLIFE
£699.00
Yeah, we wrote about that one in another article but didn’t list it here.
https://www.g-central.com/g-shock-baby-g-wildlife-promising-leopard-editions-for-love-the-sea-and-the-earth-2019-winter/
Ahh I did a search but it didn’t show up. Oops! They’re all over eBay and judging by the prices not too popular.
Love my green GWG-1000 and would be lovely to see a new colour preferably with a positive led. All the best, Mark.
Hello. Why is the JF model more expensive in the markets then the 1A3 version? Is there something that makes the JF version more valuable? Also can you please tell me if the year they were made and the year they are sold make any difference? ie made in 2018 sold new in 2020. Thanks for the great information.
The JF means it is from Japan. If the rest of the model name is the same, it’s the same watch, but it is just meant to be sold in Japan. If you buy it outside of Japan, it probably won’t include a warranty. I don’t think the year it is sold makes much a difference. For battery-powered models, it may mean a shorter battery life, but this seems to be something that is factored into the estimated battery life specs.
i really appreciate the reply. im just wondering why JF versions command more of a pricepoint then its counterparts even though those are also made in japan (correct?). whats the perception around the higher price? anyways thanks again great point on the estimated battery life.
It depends on the particular model. Not all G-Shocks are made in Japan. The new models usually get released in Japan first, so they may be charging a premium because you can’t get it anywhere else. If it’s a limited edition model, they tend to cost more if it’s from Japan. Maybe they charge more because it’s more of a hassle to send something internationally. I don’t really have the answer to this question. There are some cases where they do not charge much of a premium.
