Amazon has two listings for the G-Shock DW5600E-1V

The DW5600E-1V situation on Amazon gets more confusing.
Amazon.com currently has two product listings for the G-Shock DW5600E-1V. This is not a case of one being sold by Amazon.com and another being sold by a third-party seller, as both of these items are “Sold by Amazon.com.” One of the items, which we will refer to as “Listing 2,” currently has a lower price, which makes it seem like a better deal. But we previously reported in February that buyers of the other item (Listing 1, which appears to be the original listing) were starting to receive the new DW-5600UE-1 with the LED backlight (with evidence of that in the customer reviews and photos), even though the product page still shows images of the DW5600E-1V and identifies it as such. (We should also point out that some of the more recent customer reviews since then show the old DW5600E-1V, and we are not certain that you will receive the DW-5600UE-1 with Listing 1.)
We do not know if any buyers of Listing 2 have received the new DW-5600UE-1, or if that listing is limited to the old DW5600E-1V with the EL backlight. We suspect that it may be the latter, and that the recent discounts of Listing 2 may be intended as a clearance sale for the older model, but we can’t be certain of this. This might be something to consider if you have a preference for one over the other. (Update: One of our readers told us that he recently bought two watches from Listing 2 and received one actual DW5600E-1V and one updated DW-5600UE-1, and also mentioned that the case back on both watches indicated that they were made in Thailand.)
We’d also like to point out that while Listing 1 states the “Country of Origin” as China (where the DW5600E-1V was known to be made), customer reviews and images of the new DW-5600UE-1 case back show that they are being made in Thailand, although it’s possible that a model could be made in more than one country, or that the production location could change later.
Also, Listing 2 mistakenly states, “Environmentally friendly solar technology” in the description. The DW5600E-1V is not solar-powered.
