G-Shock Rangeman GW-9400J-1JF is discontinued (according to Bic Camera and Yodobashi)

The G-Shock GW-9400J-1JF has been sold out at the Casio Japan website (casio.com/jp) for over a month with four official G-Shock Stores in Japan having “only a few left.” Bic Camera now lists it as discontinued (“production has ended”) at biccamera.com, so it’s looking like it is discontinued. [Yodobashi is also no longer selling it and its product page states “Sales have ended” (implying discontinuation and no restocking) at .] The GW-9400BJ-1JF and GW-9400YJ-1JF are still available at Casio Japan and other retailers. It’s uncertain if this will lead to the GW-9400-1 (international version with standard non-carbon-fiber band) or the entire series also being discontinued.

[There are discrepancies in designations on some newer watches between Bic Camera and Yodobashi, such the former currently listing the GMW-BZ5000D-1 as “end of production” which implies discontinuation (and doesn’t seem right for that model) and the latter listing it as “sales are suspended” which implies a possible future restocking. Although we have found Bic Camera’s designations on older models to be accurate, its designations on newer models have sometimes changed, and we do not consider the GW-9400J-1JF to be “officially discontinued” until Casio lists it as such, but there seems to be sufficient evidence to believe it is discontinued at the moment.]

The GW-9400 was originally launched in 2013 and was one of the most popular “Master of G” series of the 2010s with its advanced features like Tough Solar, Multi-Band 6, Triple Sensor, and sunrise and sunset time. In 2023, G-Shock introduced the Mudman GW-9500 with similar features and a larger duplex LCD display, which ended up replacing the GW-9400 as the base for limited edition Earthwatch collaborations. The most recent Rangeman GW-9400 models are the GW-9400YJ-1 and GW-9400Y-1 from 2023.

The GW9400-1 (pictured below) is still available in the U.S. for $365 at casio.com/us (in “limited stock” status). The GW9400-3 and GW9400-1B are also still available.
