Why U.S. G-Shock fans should follow the G-Shock Soho Store (plus DW5600AKA-4 and DW6900AKA-4 released today)

The Coca-Cola x G-Shock GA2100CC-3A was released in the U.S. at Casio.com on June 15 and sold out within hours. It is also sold out online at every other U.S. retailer we checked. Although it seemed like Casio America was starting to do a better job of announcing upcoming release dates for new watches, that hasn’t been the case lately, as the announcement for the GA2100CC-3A was only done on social media at the time of release, without any email notification or press release specific to the U.S. launch.

While there wasn’t any advance notice from the G-Shock U.S. Instagram and X accounts, the official G-Shock Soho Store of New York City (a.k.a. “G-Shock Store, Soho”) did post on its Facebook account (facebook.com/gshocksoho) on June 10 that it was coming soon, but not on Instagram. It then announced the release on Instagram but not Facebook. It is probably a good idea for American G-Shock fans to start following the G-Shock Soho Store on both Facebook and Instagram (instagram.com/gshocksohonyc), as it seems like whoever is responsible for managing the email announcements for Casio America has been on an extended vacation lately or is otherwise out to lunch, as we haven’t received any email announcements since June 5 (and yes we checked the spam folder). The Soho Store also accepts phone orders, but not always with every release. The Soho Store also recently announced the Casio.com release of the MTGB4000B-1A, which was not announced by G-Shock U.S. on Instagram or X. It is also suggested to check other online retailers frequently, as they will often release new G-Shock watches before the Casio U.S. site. (Note that we are unable to check the G-Shock U.S. Facebook account because of their redirection settings, but we doubt it is any different from the Instagram and X accounts.)

Releasing limited editions suddenly with no advance notice or email notification is frustrating for fans, but the G-Shock Soho Store did provide some advance (but not precise) notice with this Facebook post.

Coca Cola x G-Shock GA-2100 Notice

In related news, Casio U.S. released the Japanese culture-inspired G-Shock DW5600AKA-4 and DW6900AKA-4 today for $190 each, which we did not receive any email notification for, but it was announced by G-Shock U.S. and the G-Shock Soho Store on Instagram and X. These watches are probably exclusive to the Casio.com site in the U.S., but they are not expected to sell out as quickly as the Coca-Cola collab.
