G-Shock launches G-STEEL GST-W1000 with Tough Movement 2, sapphire crystal, and world time

G-Shock officially announced the all-new G-STEEL GST-W1000 series for an October 2026 release in Japan and Asia. The series is similar in style and structure to the GST-B1000 which introduced a minimalist non-branded bezel combined with a Carbon Core Guard case, but the GST-W1000 is slightly larger and heavier at 50 x 45.5 x 13.2 millimeters and 138 grams. Unlike the GST-B1000 and its mineral glass display, the GST-W1000 has a sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating.
The GST-W1000 is the second G-Shock and Casio series (following the Gravitymaster GWR-B1000) equipped with the upgraded Tough Movement 2 (a.k.a. TOUGH MVT.2) that automatically adjusts the hand positions when strong impacts and magnetic fields are detected.
Notable additions compared to the GST-B1000 include a world time subdial, a 24-hour countdown timer (versus 30 minutes), a battery-level indicator on the dial (versus on the smartphone app only), and Multi-Band 6 automatic time adjustment by radio wave reception in compatible regions including Japan, North America, Europe, and China (versus Bluetooth-only time adjustment). Unlike the GST-B1000 which has visible side screws on the bezel, the GST-W1000 has concealed side screws for a more streamlined appearance. Around 300 cities are available for world time in the smartphone app, and using Bluetooth with the app also offers auto time correction, easy watch setting, time and place log, and phone finder. Other watch functions include a 1-second stopwatch, daily alarm, LED light, full auto-calendar, and power saving.
The series will launch with three models with a stainless steel band: GST-W1000AD-2A with black IP bezel and blue dial (Japan: GST-W1000AD-2AJF, ¥115,500), GST-W1000D-1A with black dial (Japan: GST-W1000D-1AJF, ¥110,000), and GST-W1000D-3A with green dial (Japan: GST-W1000D-3AJF, ¥110,000). The ¥110,000 price is the same as the GWR-B3000-1AJF, which would place the expected U.S. price of the W1000D models at $880, and more for the W1000AD with black IP bezel. A worldwide release is expected but not yet confirmed.
