The peak G-Shock 2100 series get the blue ink treatment with the MRG-B2100R-2A

G-Shock is introducing a third peak MRG-B2100 model with the MRG-B2100R-2A. Like the MRG-B5000BA-1, the MRG-B2100R-2A takes it inspiration from the blue ink used in traditional Zen ink wash painting and calligraphy. Unlike the first two MRG-B2100 models with titanium bands, this one has a black Dura Soft fluoro rubber band with a three-fold clasp, which reduces the total weight (110 grams) by 12 grams.

The kigumi-inspired textured dial has a metallic blue vapor deposition. The Cobarion front bezel has a black diamond-like carbon (DLC) coating, and the bezel parts on the four corners have a blue ion-plating. Like the other MRG-B2100 models, the exterior parts are made of lightweight Ti64, including the case, back, buttons, and crown.

The MRG-B2100R-2A is more of a traditional analog timepiece compared to the functionally richer but less refined GM-B2100 series, but it does have some key G-Shock features such as Tough Solar power, Bluetooth smartphone link, full automatic calendar, and LED light, and it is currently the only 2100 series with Multi-Band 6 auto radio time adjustment. In addition to shock resistance and 200-meter water resistance, the watch is also magnetic-resistant (JIS Class 1). As the peak of the G-Shock lineup, MR-G models are made in Japan at Casio’s Premium Production Line. (Optional Bluetooth functions with the Casio Watches smartphone app include automatic time adjustment, easy clock setting, time & place log, watch status display, self-check, phone finder, and Premium Production Line certificate.)

The MRG-B2100R-2AJR is currently available for pre-orders in Japan with a tax-included price of 550,000 yen.
