Japanese leather goods maker Hender Scheme announced its fourth G-Shock collaboration and its first with a DW-5900 base. The watch has a “natural” color with a blank white face and includes a real cow leather band and an interchangeable resin band. The leather band is vegetable-tanned and hand-sewn and is meant to age naturally with use. This limited edition model uses the previous DW-5900 module 3465 with the blue-green EL backlight and not the newer module 3536 with LED light. The Hender Scheme logo appears on the activated EL backlight, engraved on the stainless steel case back, and engraved on the back of the leather band. The price is 35,200 yen.
The G-Shock DW-5900 was originally launched in 1992 and revived in 2018 during the G-Shock 35th Anniversary. Features for module 3465 include world time, stopwatch, timer, 5 alarms with 1 snooze, EL backlight (1.5 or 3 seconds), full auto calendar, button sound on/off, and an approximate 5-year battery life.
Online and in-store lottery sale applications in Japan will begin on May 23, 2025, with shipping to Japan only. An Instagram post by Hender Scheme (embedded below) states that the watch will also be available overseas on May 30 at select Hender Scheme stockists.
Tokyo clothing store Sukima Kappabashi will be offering the “effect_lab” engraving options for the leather band for 2,000 yen plus tax, with up to fifteen alphanumeric characters and symbols. This offer applies only to the the new collaboration and not to watches from the previous ones.
