Prices for Edifice EFK-100 watches in the U.S. (EFK100): Casio’s first-ever mechanical and automatic watches

Casio Edifice EFK100 Automatic Mechanical Watches in the U.S.

The U.S. prices for the first-ever Casio watches with a mechanical movement have been revealed. The EFK100CD-1A (left) with a forged carbon dial will be $300, while the EFK100D-2A (middle) and EFK100D-7A (right) will be $280 each, with an expected release in July 2025 for these Edifice models with an automatic (self-winding) movement. The EFK100D-2A (blue dial) and EFK100D-7A (white dial) feature electroformed dials with unique textures. These stainless steel watches have a sapphire crystal, see-through screw lock back, date display, and 100-meter water resistance. Each watch measures 43.5 x 39 x 12.5 millimeters and weighs 148 grams, with a compatible band size of 5.9 to 8.07 inches.

The U.S. is not expected to get the EFK-100D-3A with a green dial, or the EFK-100XPB-1A with a forged carbon case and black resin band which was released only in Japan (EFK-100XPB-1AJF, 74,800 yen) and China so far.

Casio Edifice EFK-100 Case Back and Seiko NH35A Movement

Although Casio does not mention the specific movement, it is identified (on the rotor) as a made-in-Malaysia Seiko NH35A movement with 24 jewels. Casio states that the movement has magnetic resistance, automatic and manual winding, an approximate 40-hour power reserve, hacking function (to stop the second hand while adjusting the time), a beat frequency of 21,600 vibrations (3 Hz) per hour, and an average daily rate of -35 to +45 seconds. These specifications differ from those listed at Caliber Corner (calibercorner.com), which states an accuracy of -20 to +40 seconds per day and a 41-hour power reserve for the NH35A. According to Caliber Corner, the NH35A movement also features Diashock, which is Seiko’s anti-shock system.

The Edifice EFK100 series offers good build quality and classic styling at an entry-level price for automatic watches, while also marking the start of a new era for Casio. It will be interesting to see if Casio continues to focus on the more affordable side of the market or starts to use more expensive movements at some point.
