New G-Shock collaborations with Los Angeles-based visual artist Joshua Vides are coming soon in the form of the DW-5600JV-7 and DW-6900JV-1 watches. These unique timepieces have illustrated designs printed on them which give the illusion of being comic-like 2D drawings. Other unique elements include Vides’ traffic cone motif on the LED backlight and the artist’s signature engraved on the stainless steel case back, along with special packaging. A similar style was recently seen on the limited GA-2100MNG-2A and GA-2100MNG-7A in 2024 (which were released in Asia, Europe, and the U.K.) Vides posted several teasers at instagram.com/joshuavides and stated that the watches will be released on March 14, 2026, at his pop-up store in Los Angeles and online on March 16. We could not find more information about this pop-up event and suggest following his Insta and instagram.com/realitytoidea for updates. He also has websites at joshuavides.com and reality-to-idea.com with mailing list subscription forms.
[Update: Vides unveiled more images of the DW-6900JV at instagram.com/joshuavides and instagram.com/realitytoidea. A previous Reality To Idea post stated that early access will be available to newsletter subscribers.]
Update 2: Vides unveiled more images of the DW-5600JV at instagram.com/joshuavides and stated that the watch will be available online on Monday, March 16, at joshuavides.com.]
Update 3: The DW5600JV-7 (casio.com) and DW6900JV-1 (casio.com) are now listed at Casio U.S. with a price of $180 and are expected to be released on Monday, March 16. The DW-5600JV-7 and DW-6900JV-1 are also listed on the Casio International (Asia) site and Casio Japan site. Japanese media announced that the DW-5600JV-7JR and DW-6900JV-1JR will be released in Japan on March 24, with pre-orders beginning on March 14. There are currently no listings in Europe, but we’re expecting both models to be released worldwide.]
Joshua Vides is renowned for his “Reality to Idea” style, transforming everyday objects like sneakers, traffic cones, and cars into striking black-and-white comic book-style illustrations through hand-drawn outlines. His “Check Engine Light” 2025 exhibition in Downtown L.A. featured real cars wrapped and painted to appear as 2D sketches in a comic-strip garage setting.
A worldwide release for this G-Shock collaboration has not been confirmed, but we’re guessing that it is very likely, as along with G-Shock U.S., Vides included G-Shock Japan and the international G-Shock account as collaborators in his first teaser post on Instagram. Also, these new watch collabs are made in Thailand and not Japan which could possibly indicate a larger production run than a strictly regional limited edition, like the Stranger Things and Hardies NYC collabs that were released internationally.
