While September seems to be a slow month for new releases this year, a lot of all-new and exciting series are expected for the 5000-5600 Origin family soon. New photos of the rumored G-Shock DWN-5600 have surfaced courtesy of morgan_gshock (instagram.com) that are a bit clearer then earlier photos. Previous leaks (embedded below) were shared by geesgshock (instagram.com). The new photos show the black DWN-5600-1, red DWN-5600-4, and yellow DWN-5600-9.
Assuming the new images are reflective of the final product (or close to it), there are a few things that we can assume about the DWN-5600. Firstly, we strongly believe that this is the “surprising” new G-Shock that G-Shock creator Kikuo Ibe mentioned is coming in 2025. With the G-Shock logo on the bezel, “Water 20Bar Resist” label, and Shock Resist logo, the DWN-5600 is an actual G-Shock watch with full shock resistance and 200-meter water resistance, unlike the G-Shock-shaped (but not a G-Shock) Casio CRW-001 Ring Watch.
The three button structure is the same as the CRW-001, so we are expecting the watch to have a similar module with similar features. The CRW-001 has dual time, 1/100-second stopwatch, time flash (for a daily set time and as an hourly signal), LED backlight, and auto-calendar (with 28 days for February). The CRW-001 does not have a speaker, so it does not have a proper alarm with beeping (only the flashing light). Previous leaks showed “Flash” and “Alarm” labels near the Shock Resist logo, but the new photos show “Flash” and “Light.” We believe that this refers to the flash alert feature and the LED light, not an actual flashlight tool, and perhaps they ended up removing “Alarm” because it may also lack sound like the CRW-001. Another question is why there is a date display section on the watch like the DW-5600 but there is no date displayed in the photos. Earlier leaks show the watch with a different display style (more like the CRW-001 with only the time part), and perhaps these new pictures are still prototypes.
The (“DWN”) naming of the watch, with the “N” presumed to signify “nano,” suggests that G-Shock may market this as more than just a ring watch. The watches appear to have a working resin band with a stainless steel buckle, so that opens up many possibilities for what the watch can be attached to (such as clothing, bags, handlebars, big Labubu dolls). With the 5600 designation, the series is a proper Origin line descending from the first G-Shock (DW-5000).
Speaking of the CRW-001, we noticed that like the G-Shock lineup recently, the price increased at casio.com/us to $135 (previously $120) despite it still being out of stock, so that could be a sign that it will be restocked again.
