G-Shock enthusiast Geesgshock leaked images of the upcoming G-Shock “GMW-BZ5000” with an MIP LCD display and a new type of case and bezel structure. The new structure appears to be a hybrid type with a stainless steel front and maybe a black resin (or carbon fiber-reinforced resin) back, somewhat similar to a G-STEEL GST-B300 and GST-B400, although it’s possible that those black sections are also stainless steel. Based on the side view and the new structure, it may not be a screw lock back like the GMW-B5000 (since we do not see any indents for a screw-back removal tool), although a DLC-coated screw-back may be possible as previous GMW models are full metal with a screw-back, and the leaked images are rather low-res and lacking in definition, so it’s difficult to make judgments on the materials and structure. The gold part seen on the side of the black and gold GMW-BZ5000GD-1 looks like ion-plated metal while that piece is a black color on the other models, and we’ll probably have to wait for the official announcement to fully understand this new structure. [Update: The black parts look like metal in clearer images that have emerged (embedded below), and the price is rumored to be higher than the GMW-B5000.]
[Update: Another leaked image of the structure of the case and bezel shows that the watch does have a screw lock back like the GMW-B5000 and a “metal” center case. That center case extends to the sides and is the black part seen on the side of the watch (or the gold part on the GMW-BZ5000GD-1).]
The display shows the time, date and day of week (with the day of week spelled out completely) on the upper left, and a second time zone with three date and time on the upper right (and identified with three letters). With the name starting with “GMW-B” and from the labels on the face, we can expect the watch to have Tough Solar power, Multi-Band 6 auto radio time adjustment, and Bluetooth smartphone link. We expect the language for the day of week to be adjustable. With the MIP and Bluetooth combination, the watch may also be capable of displaying phone notifications. (The leaks consist of these images only, so such functions are just speculation at this point.)
[Update: Sharper images of the GMW-BZ5000D-1 and GMW-BZ5000GD-9 were also leaked.]

MIP LCD displays offer better contrast and legibility than TN and STN LCD displays, and are more flexible in the amount of data they can display with their use of pixels. Prior to this, MIP LCD displays were available with certain G-Shock fitness (G-SQUAD, MOVE), G-LIDE, and Rangeman watches. Previously, there were no G-Shock watches with an MIP LCD display and Tough Solar power which fully powers the watch. (The DW-H5600, GBD-H2000, and GPR-H1000 have “solar assisted” charging and not Tough Solar.)

Three models will reportedly be released in the second half of 2025: the silver GMW-BZ5000D-1 with inverted display, the black GMW-BZ5000GD-1 with inverted display, and the gold GMW-BZ5000GD-9 with non-inverted display. (There were previously no G-Shock watches with a non-inverted MIP LCD display.) The reported prices are €599 for the silver model and €649 each for the black and gold models.
This leak seems to suggest that the upcoming and yet-to-be-leaked GW-BX5600 may also have an MIP LCD display, but it remains to be seen why that series has an “X” and this one has a “Z.” Maybe the GW-BX5600 does not share the new structure.
New Mini Ring-Size G-Shock DWN-5600 Rumored
Japanese blog Great G-Shock World (gshockjp.blog.jp) reported on rumors of an upcoming mini ring-sized G-Shock DWN-5600 watch, with model numbers DWN-5600-1 (black), DWN-5600-4 (red), and DWN-5600-9 (yellow), with the “N” possibly representing “nano.” These watches are expected to be similar in size to the Casio CRW-001 ring watch but are expected to be actual G-Shock watches with shock resistance, and it remains to be seen if they will have full 200-meter water resistance like other current G-Shock watches. (“G-Shock Mini” models had 100-meter water resistance in the past.) We believe that the DWN-5600 could be the surprising release that Casio executives have been mentioning in interviews recently.
