Casio America added three new watches to the MDV106 “Duro” lineup, which is widely considered to be one of the best watches when it comes to value. The new models include the MDV106C-1AV with a black dial and black cloth band, MDV106C-3AV with a green dial and green cloth band, and MDV106C-5AV with a black dial and a tan cloth band, with a price of $110 each.
The MDV106 is known for being a classically styled stainless steel dive watch with an anti-reverse rotary bezel to measure elapsed time, three analog hands, date display, screw lock back, and 200-meter water resistance (but not ISO Diver’s 200M like the G-Shock Frogman line). The MDV106 also has a mineral glass display, quartz accuracy of ±20 seconds per month, and battery life of approximately 3 years. One detail to note is that the MDV106 is on the larger side (with a width 44.2 millimeters), and the MDV106C models with cloth bands have a minimum compatible band size of 175 millimeters (~6.8 inches) and a maximum of 215 millimeters. That is a larger minimum size than the MDV106DD models with stainless steel bands, which have a compatible size of 150 to 205 millimeters. (The sizing for the original MDV106 models with resin bands is not listed.) The MDV106C models weigh 96 grams, which is 4 grams more than the MDV106 and 49 less than the MDV106DD.
