G-Shock has officially unveiled the upcoming DWN-5600, a functional ring-sized G-Shock watch that is about one-tenth the size of a G-Shock DW-5600.
Unlike the G-Shock-shaped Casio CRW-001 stainless steel ring watches, the DWN-5600 is a true G-Shock featuring shock resistance and 200-meter water resistance. Like other G-Shock models, each button is fitted with two gaskets. Similar to the DW-5600, it has a mineral glass display and a removable stainless steel case back, making replacement of the SR621SW battery (with an approximate two-year lifespan) a simple task. The band is adjustable from 48 to 82 millimeters, allowing it to be attached to a variety of objects besides fingers, and Casio encourages owners to get creative with its use.
The watch, outfitted with a bezel and band made from bio-based resin, measures 23.4 x 20 x 7.5 millimeters and weighs six grams. The series will launch on November 8, 2025, in Japan, with other regions expected to follow. It will debut in three colors: black (DWN-5600-1), red (DWN-5600-4), and yellow (DWN-5600-9), each priced at 14,300 yen. (This matches the price of standard DW-5600 models and suggests a U.S. price of $110.)
The module (3592) shares the same functions as the CRW-001, including dual time, a 1/100-second stopwatch (up to 59’59”99), a time flash setting (with daily set time or hourly flash), an LED backlight, and an auto-calendar (28 days for February). The module is less accurate than typical G-Shock watches but still quite accurate, with an accuracy of ±30 seconds per month instead of ±15. The upper-right display section, bordered by a rectangle, remains blank in timekeeping mode but displays the dual time (DT) and stopwatch (ST) indicators in those modes. A flash (FL) indicator appears on the left side of that section along with a flash icon above the seconds.
For those wondering why G-Shock may have decided on the “Nano” label instead of “Mini,” there was previously a G-Shock Mini (GMN) line (with 100-meter water resistance) in the 2010s, and it included smaller wristwatches that were more like the Baby-G and G-Shock S Series lines, with the most recent release being a GMN-691 collaboration in 2020.
The DWN-5600’s module shows some limitations compared to full-size G-Shock watches, which usually include a full auto-calendar and beeping alarm. Such compromises are expected for a device of this size, which still upholds G-Shock’s legendary durability standards in the shape of the original G-Shock. Each watch comes in collector-style packaging and includes a G-shaped display stand.
