Casio reveals metal-covered G-Shock GM-700 watches in gold and silver

Casio officially revealed an upcoming metal-covered watch based on the GA-700 with an analog-digital display. An image shared on its international G-Shock account on Instagram (embedded below) shows that the watch has a gold ion-plated bezel and a metallic front light button, along with a matching metallic finish for the dial, hour markers, and hands. The watch has a black resin band.

A leak from Japanese fan site gshockjp.blog.jp last month also showed a silver model and stated that three models are coming: GM-700-1A (silver), GM-700P-6A (purple), and GM-700G-9A (gold).

The GM-700 is the first “Metal Covered” GM series that is not based on one of the four (Casio-designated) “Masterpiece” lines (5000/6900/110/2100), although the GA-700 probably comes close to being the fifth. The GA-700 was originally released in 2016 and has become a popular series, especially in western regions. It is known for being larger than the GA-100, having a front light button and a direct stopwatch start button, and having above-average battery life of approximately five years compared to other non-solar analog models.

Features of the GA-700 include world time, 1/100-second stopwatch (24 hours, includes target time alarm), countdown timer (60 minutes), 5 daily alarms with 1 snooze, hourly time signal, LED light with adjustable duration (1.5 or 3 seconds), full auto-calendar, button tone on/off, and hand shift. The GM-700 is expected to have the same functions.

It’s likely that the dimensions of the GM-700 will be smaller than the GA-700 to make the metal bezel more manageable on the wrist, like the GM-110 is smaller than the GA-110.

Update: The silver model was also revealed on Instagram (embedded below).
