G-Shock updates 14 more popular models with LED backlight (5600, 5750, and 6900)

Following the recent release of the DW-5600UE-1JF and DW-6900UB-9JF models featuring updated modules with the LED backlight, G-Shock also released the updated DW-5750UE-1JF (Module 3525) in late December 2023, along with three updated GM-5600 models (Module 3525), one updated GM-6900 model (Module 3529), and three updated GM-S5600 (Module 3523) models . More updated DW-5600 (3) and DW-6900 (2) models are coming to Japan in January 2024, along with another updated GM-S5600 model. These models are expected to replace their respective counterparts internationally as well.

These updated modules have an LED backlight instead of the previous EL backlight and offer improved battery life of approximately 5 years instead of 2 years for the old modules (except for the GM-S5600 models which have an approximate 3-year battery life with the new Module 3523). The battery life estimate is based on using the alarm once per day (for 20 seconds with flash alert) and the illumination once per day. Along with being more power-efficient, the LED backlight is not expected to seriously degrade in brightness over long periods of time like the EL backlight was known to.

Update: Many of these models are also being released throughout Asia in February 2024.

DW-5600UHR-1JF: Black with inverted LCD display and dual layer band with red inner layer. 14,300 yen. DW-5600UHR-1 is also being released throughout Asia.

DW-5600USKE-7JF: Skeleton style with translucent bezel and band and inverted LCD display. 14,300 yen.

DW-5750UE-1JF: Standard model based on the colors of the DW-5700C-1V from 1987. 13,200 yen. DW-5750UE-1 is also being released throughout Asia.

DW-6900U-1JF: Standard model along with DW-6900UB-9JF. 13,200 yen. DW-6900U-1 is also being released throughout Asia and Europe.

DW-6900UMS-1JF: “Matte Black Red Eye” blackout style with red-tinted inverted LCD display and module number printed on band. 15,400 yen. DW-6900UMS-1 is also being released throughout Asia.

The following GM-5600 and GM-6900 models were released in late December in Japan.

GM-5600U-1JF: Silver stainless steel bezel with inverted LCD display and black resin band. 25,300 yen. GM-5600U-1 is also being released throughout Asia and Europe.

GM-5600UB-1JF: Black ion plated stainless steel bezel with inverted LCD display and black resin band. 27,500 yen. GM-5600UB-1 is also being released throughout Asia.

GM-5600UG-9JF: Gold ion plated stainless steel bezel with inverted LCD display and black resin band. 29,700 yen. GM-5600UG-9 is also being released throughout Asia.

GM-6900U-1JF: Silver stainless steel bezel with inverted LCD display and black resin band. 25,300 yen. GM-6900U-1 is also being released throughout Asia.

Other upgraded models include some from the smaller GM-S5600 women’s series. These models are equipped with Module 3523 with an LED light and approximate 3-year battery life. These models are now available in Japan, except for the GM-S5600UPG-4JF which is coming in January.
