G-Shock GA-2300 is smaller than GA-2100 with futuristic minimalist style

The G-Shock GA-2300 is an all-new series being released in April 2024. The watch has an “X” motif on the dial that is reminiscent of the GA-120. The bezel shape is inspired by the octagonal GA-2100 but with more angles added. The watch measures 45.4 x 42.1 x 11.6 millimeters and weighs 49 grams, which is considerably smaller than the GA-2100 (48.5 x 45.4 x 11.8 mm and 51 grams). There are resin pieces that attach to the upper and lower band, which add to the futuristic look. The analog-digital watch has an LCD display with LED backlight and a day of the week indicator.
With its smaller dimensions, it seems like this could have been an S Series designed for women, but it’s not. According to Casio, the GA-2300 has a “minimalist design that has been made smaller and thinner to meet the needs of the times,” and it is designed to eliminate waste. This may be a tough sell to existing fans who are accustomed to the size of larger G-Shock models, but it may have unisex appeal to those who are looking for a very compact G-Shock. The band is adjustable from 145 to 200 millimeters (about 5.7 to 7.9 inches), which is the same as the also compact and new GD-B500 series, as well as the GM-S2100. (While most G-Shock watches adjust from 145 mm to 200+ mm, they are not always suitable to be worn on smaller wrists.)
Features of the GA-2300 include shock resistance, 200-meter water resistance, Neobrite luminous hands, world time, stopwatch, timer, 5 daily alarms, hourly time signal, full auto calendar, double LED light, button tone on/off, and hand shift.
In Japan, the GA-2300 series launches with the black GA-2300-1AJF, pink GA-2300-4AJF, and white GA-2300-7AJF with a tax-included price of 19,800 yen each. Other recent models with that price suggest that they will be around $140 in the U.S., assuming that they are released there.
