G-Shock GST-B600 is a very compact G-STEEL series, smaller and thinner than GA-2100

G-Shock continues to downsize the metal-clad G-STEEL line with the GST-B600 series, which is launching in February 2024 in Japan. According to Japanese sources, the watch measures 41.4 x 42.3 x 11.4 millimeters, which is significantly smaller than the previous GST-B500 from 2022, which was previously the thinnest G-STEEL at 46.6 x 48.9 x 12.8 millimeters. The models with a resin band (GST-B600-1A and GST-B600A-1A6) reportedly weigh 60 grams, and the GST-B600D-1A with a stainless steel band weighs 135 grams. (These dimensions seem almost hard to believe, but multiple Japanese sources have reported the same information.)

While it was known that this series would be smaller than the GST-B500, the width of 42.3 mm and thickness of 11.4 mm is even smaller than expected. This is shorter in width than the GA-2100 (45.4 mm) and the AWG-M100 (46.4 mm), which are some of the smaller analog-digital G-Shock series for men. The size is more within the realm of traditional non-G-Shock wristwatches, which will appeal to those who want a rugged watch that isn’t bulky. It is also thinner than the GA-2100 by 0.4 mm, which was previously the thinnest G-Shock series for men.

The GST-B600 has a two-piece bezel structure and four front screws that give it a tough appearance. The dial now lacks an analog function and battery level indicator, and the LCD display is noticeably small and minimal. Features include shock resistance, 200-meter water resistance, Tough Solar power, Bluetooth smartphone link, stopwatch, timer, 5 daily alarms, and double LED light.

The tax-included prices in Japan are as follows: GST-B600-1AJF (44,000 yen), GST-B600A-1A6JF (46,200 yen), GST-B600D-1AJF (51,700 yen). The GST-B600 series reportedly will not be released in Europe, and it remains to be seen if any models will be released in the U.S. (Only one of the six GST-B500 models was released in the U.S.)

Update: Casio released the GST-B600 series in Japan on February 1, and the dimensions are correct. The case is made of resin and is not a Carbon Core Guard case. Due to the small LCD display size, the 1-second stopwatch is limited to 60 minutes max (with elapsed, lap, and split times). The timer also has a maximum of 60 minutes and can be set in seconds and minutes. The watch will flash an “L” and “LOW” text on the LCD display if the battery is low, but it does not display medium or high charge levels.

The Bluetooth connection with the Casio Watches smartphone app offers functions such as automatic time adjustment, easy clock setting, world time with approximately 300 cities, time & place log, reminder, and phone finder.
