G-Shock Mudmaster GG-B100Y-1A and Rangeman GW-9400Y-1 (JP: GW-9400YJ-1) with emergency yellow accents

January 2023 is looking to be a very active month for new releases as two new colorways for popular Master of G models will be added to the lineup: the black and yellow Mudmaster GG-B100Y-1A and Rangeman GW-9400YJ-1. Both of these models feature shock resistance, 200-meter water resistance, and mud and dust resistance. They are both equipped with a pressure sensor (altimeter and barometer), compass, and thermometer. The GG-B100Y-1A also has a step counter. The GG-B100Y-1A has a carbon fiber insert bezel, and the GW-9400YJ-1 has a carbon fiber insert band. The Mudmaster GG-B100Y-1A is battery-powered with Bluetooth smartphone link, and the Rangeman GW-9400YJ-1 has Tough Solar power and Multi-Band 6 auto radio time correction.

Based on the Japanese model names (ending in “JF”), these are standard releases and not designated as limited editions. However, sometimes standard releases are discontinued fairly early, as we saw with the GW-9400J-1BJF. It’s very possible that there will be another black and yellow GW-9400 model for an international release (such as a GW-9400Y-1) that has a standard resin band without the carbon fiber insert, like we saw with the GW-9400-1B.

Update: The GW-9400Y-1 with standard resin band is being released internationally. The GW-9400Y-1 has a full black resin band (without carbon fiber insert) and without the yellow inner layer of the GW-9400YJ-1 (pictured above). G-Shock U.S. released the GGB100Y-1A ($380) and GW9400Y-1 ($330).
