G-Shock U.S. releases G-LIDE GLXS5610-2 and GLXS5610-4 watches inspired by Hawaii surfer Bettylou Sakura Johnson

G-Shock G-LIDE GLX-S5610 Surf Watches

Casio America has unexpectedly released the G-Shock GLXS5610-2 and GLXS5610-4 watches earlier than Japan and other countries. These G-LIDE surfing models have a smaller (S Series) form factor designed for women and feature a tide and moon graph.

The summer-themed colors are inspired by Hawaii-born pro surfer and Team G-Shock athlete Bettylou Sakura Johnson, with the blue color inspired by the flower of the jade vine plant and the red color inspired by cherry blossoms which also reflects Johnson’s middle name. Blue and red also happen to (unofficially) match the two main character colors of Disney’s live-action Lilo & Stitch movie, which was released this month and features surfing in Hawaii.

Both models are now available at www.casio.com/us for $99 each.

(The “5610” may designate the metallic border around the display, as the GLX-S5610 has the same module, dimensions, and compatible band size as the GLX-S5600, according to the official product pages. The metallic and reflective properties of the faces are more apparent in photos at news.mynavi.jp.)
