Casio announces G-Shock G-LIDE GBX-H5600 combining heart-rate monitor, step counter, and tide and moon functions

Casio officially announced the upcoming G-Shock G-LIDE GBX-H5600 in Japan and Asia. This all-new series with an MIP LCD display combines the optical heart-rate monitoring and fitness tracking features of the DW-H5600 (and recent GM-H5600) with the advanced tide and moon functions of the G-LIDE GBX-100. The GBX-H5600 also has a step counter and a rechargeable battery like the DW-H5600 that is charged by wired USB cable and solar panels on the watch face. The watch is labeled as “Solar Powered,” but it is not the “Tough Solar” feature that can fully power all functions (although the time display can be fully powered by solar alone), and wired charging may be required for frequent use of the heart rate monitor and other functions. Despite being the same length and width as the DW-H5600 and 0.1 mm thinner, the GBX-H5600 is 12 grams lighter than a DW-H5600 model with resin bezel, with a total weight of 47 grams thanks to a carbon-reinforced case back instead of stainless steel. The GBX-H5600 also has Bluetooth smartphone link with auto time correction and phone notifications, along with the vibration option for alarms and alerts.

The GBX-H5600 offers the same functions as the DW-H5600 and GBX-100 in a classic 5600 square case. On the fitness side, that means activity tracking for walking, running, gym workouts, and interval training, along with advanced training analysis by Polar including cardio load status, sleep recovery analysis, blood oxygen level measurement, and guided breathing exercises.

On the G-LIDE watersports side, there are 50 preset ports to choose from on the watch’s memory for the tide graph, and connecting the watch to the Casio Watches smartphone app offers up to 3,300 points to choose from, as well as the option to specify any location as a point. Up to three user-defined locations can be set, but only the preset watch and app points offer numerical height measurements for the high tide and low tide times. (User-defined points will display the tide cycle as S, M, or L, representing spring, half, and neat tides.) The watch also displays moon data including moon phase and moon age, as well as sunrise and sunset times for specific dates. (The DW-H5600 also has the moon and sun data.) Although the tide graph is displayed with the time in most of the product images, there is also a time display mode with larger digits and no tide graph. Other time display modes include one with a step-counting graph for the past eight days and another one with large digits that includes a customizable section.

Other features include world time, 1-second stopwatch (up to 99:59’59” with elapsed and split time), 4 daily alarms with snooze, smart alarm with snooze, full auto LED backlight (1.5 or 5 seconds), power saving, and battery level indicator. The GBX-H5600 is not listed as having a Carbon Core Guard Structure like the DW-H5600, but the center case material is listed as bio-based carbon. Although an interval timer is not listed under the watch specifications like it is with the GBX-100, interval timers are included as part of the fitness activity functions, with up to five interval timers repeating up to 10 times. (The interval timers on the GBX-100 can repeat up to 20 times.)

The two launch models, the black GBX-H5600-1 and blue GBX-H5600-2, allude to their G-LIDE identity and water-based features with a clear resin bezel and translucent band keeper.
In Japan, the GBX-H5600-1JR and GBX-H5600-2JR will be released in May 2026 for 44,000 yen each, which is the same price as the DW-H5600 models with a resin bezel. The most recent MSRP for a resin DWH5600 in the U.S. was $299, but the GBXH5600 may end up costing more due to recent price increases.
