Hypebeast’s HBX online store is currently selling two super rare limited edition watches from the G-Shock 35th Anniversary in 2018, one a translucent yellow DW-5600 and the other a translucent pink DW-6900. The two watches were made in collaboration with A Bathing Ape founder Nigo and G-Shock creator Kikuo Ibe. These models were limited to only 35 watches each, and according to Casio, each had its own serial number that is visible when the EL backlight is activated (in the form of from “01:35” to “35:35”).
The watches are made with a fluorescent dye surrounded by two layers of resin with an anti-UV coating to protect from discoloration. Casio stated that this was the first time such a process was used, and we never heard about it being used again. The watches also have some other exclusive elements, such as a heart shape engraved on a button and NIGO’s name engraved on a bezel screw. The watches were originally sold by raffle for $135 each.
The HBX price is $7,715 each in “Brand New” condition, with international shipping available, and there is only one of each watch in stock. We should point out that the DW-6900 listing shows an image of the EL backlight that reads “18:45,” which is different than the expected “XX:35” serial number format seen above, and we don’t know the specific history or status of these particular watches being sold.
