Japan Olympic judo team wears special G-Shock watch in tribute to Toshihiko Koga

The Japan judo team won a record-setting nine gold medals so far at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Members of the team, including players, managers, and coaches, have been wearing matching white G-Shock watches as a tribute to Olympic champion and coach Toshihiko Koga, who died in March. The team received about one hundred custom G-Shock GW-M5610MD-7JF watches with a special band and laser-engraved case back designed in Koga’s honor. The watch was commissioned by Koga’s protege and fellow gold medalist Hidehiko Yoshida, who consulted with Koga’s wife about the watch.

Japan has a chance to win another gold medal in judo as they face France in the finals of the mixed team competition.
