The G-Shock GMW-B5000 is a full metal version of the original DW-5000 with a stainless steel screw-back case and modern features like Tough Solar power, Multi-Band 6 automatic radio time correction, and Bluetooth smartphone link. Some models are available with a resin band and some (GMW-B5000T) models are made of titanium with a sapphire crystal. The case back on GMW-B5000 models has a diamond-like carbon (DLC) coating for enhanced durability.

Note: GMW-B5000T models have a titanium case, bezel, and band, and sapphire crystal. They are lighter (at around 104-106 grams) than the stainless steel versions.

Update: New GMW-B5000 models, starting with the limited edition GMW-B5000PG-9 and GMW-B5000PS-1 in April 2023, are now using module 3539. The functions are the same but the new module uses the “Casio Watches” app instead of the “G-SHOCK Connected” app.

First introduced during the G-Shock 35th Anniversary, the GMW-B5000 is a favorite of fans and watch enthusiasts due to it being the first full metal version of the original 5000 series G-Shock. STN LCD display offers better contrast than standard TN LCD displays of other G-Shock models.
