Newly listed for a January 2019 release in Asia is the G-Shock MRG-G2000RJ-2A “Jyuryoku Maru” Edition, a special box set limited to 100 units worldwide.
The MRG-G2000RJ-2A has a titanium case with a Cobarion bezel and Dura Soft Fluoro Rubber Band. The watch is designed in the image of the Jyuryoku Maru, an original traditional Japanese sword created exclusively for G-Shock and created with an MR-G motif. Each bezel is carved individually from a solid block of metal. The deep violet Arc Ion Plating (AIP) on the bezel is harder than a diamond-like carbon (DLC) treatment and gives the metal a traditional Japanese cassius purple finish. A sword-like letter opener created by swordsmith Teruhira Kamiyama and engraved with his name is included in the box set and includes a certificate of authenticity from the All Japan Swordsmith Association. The characters for “Jyuryoku” (meaning “gravity”) are hand engraved on the case back by Teruhira Kamiyama using the same method as names engraved into the blades of swords.
The MRG-G2000RJ-2A is part of G-Shock’s top-of-the-line MR-G series and features Tough Solar power, Multi-Band 6 radio and GPS automatic time adjustment, and Bluetooth mobile link. Other features include shock resistance, 200-meter water resistance, sapphire glass, day and date display, world time, 1-second stopwatch (up to 23:59’59), countdown timer (24 hours), daily alarm, power saving mode, low battery alert, airplane mode, and Super Illuminator LED light with afterglow.
Update: Casio America announced the MRGG2000RJ-2A for a February 2019 release with a list price of $4,300 USD.
