In celebration of the 30th anniversary of its high-end MR-G line, G-Shock is releasing the Frogman MRG-BF1000EB-1A, which is individually numbered and limited to 800 pieces worldwide. The styling of the watch is inspired by a brinicle, which is an underwater tube of ice that grows downward from the ocean surface.
The watch includes both a white Dura Soft Fluoro Rubber band and a full titanium band. The Cobarion bezel features over 100 faceted cuts handcrafted by skilled artisans under the supervision of award-winning craftsman Komatsu Kazuhito, along with a scratch-resistant blue arc ion plating finish. Two brilliant-cut lab-grown blue sapphires are placed where the front screws usually are, and the case back has a blue vapor-deposited sapphire insert. The case and other exterior parts are made of Ti64 titanium alloy, and the titanium band and case back have a titanium carbide coating.
As a G-Shock Frogman, the watch has ISO Diver’s 200m water resistance which includes magnetic resistance. Other features include Tough Solar power, Multi-Band 6 automatic radio time adjustment, Bluetooth smartphone link, tide graph, and diving mode with 30-record log. As an MR-G model, it is made at Casio’s Premium Production Line at the Yamagata mother factory in Japan. The watch measures 56 x 49.7 x 18.6 millimeters and weighs 132 grams with the rubber band. Also included is a special carrying case made by Japanese luggage brand Proteca.
In Japan, the MRG-BF1000EB-1A has a price of 1,210,000 yen, making it the most expensive G-Shock in the current lineup. The watch was also announced for Asia and a worldwide release is expected.
