Is the Mudmaster GWG-1000 discontinued?

G-Shock Mudmaster GWG-1000 Dial

The G-Shock Mudmaster GWG-1000 could be facing extinction. Evidence of this includes the fact that it is no longer listed as an active model on the U.S. dealer price list. The Casio U.S. site had the GWG1000-1A3 and GWG1000-1A1 discounted for 40% off, and both have been sold out since earlier this year with no sign of being restocked. Visits to the usual authorized U.S. dealers online show that none of them are selling GWG1000 models anymore (but the GWG1000-1A3 is currently available from Altivo on Amazon). The GWG1000 appears to be discontinued in the U.S.

The GWG-1000-1A3 is still available from Casio online in Japan and Europe, so it doesn’t appear to be discontinued worldwide yet, but with the imminent arrival of the Mudmaster GWG-B1000 and the trend toward smaller watches like the Mudmaster GWG-2000, it’s a possibility.

The GWG-1000 made its debut in 2015 and was quite popular in the west, despite being a more expensive G-Shock at the time. It was an innovative and unique series, combining the bulky rugged style and Triple Sensor function of the Rangeman GW-9400, mud-resistant protected buttons like the Mudman, and a large Pro Trek-like analog-digital display. Other Mudmaster series remain active in the U.S., such as the GG-1000, GG-B100, and GWG-2000. It’s possible that the GWG-1000-1A3 will be discontinued in most countries but will stay active in Japan, in the same way other older Master of G models like the Gulfmaster GWN-1000B-1BJF are still active there.
