L.A. fashion brand C2H4® x G-Shock GM-5600 ‘The Space Age’ edition launches on January 9

Los Angeles-based fashion brand C2H4® is releasing a G-Shock GM-5600 collaboration featuring the theme of Space Age design which emerged in the 1960s. The LED backlight (when activated) displays a red graphic of the Theme Building at the Los Angeles International Airport. The Theme Building, completed in 1961, is a prime example of the influence of Space Age design in architecture.
The GM-5600 watch has a silver stainless steel bezel with a retro-futuristic face design and a translucent gray resin band with red markings. (Full product images have not been released yet.) The watch comes in a large retro capsule case which is a work of art itself, inspired by the ATC Genie Telephone from 1970, and the case features a retro silver G-Shock logo affixed to the outside and a large imprint of the Theme Building on its bottom foot.
The watch will be released on January 9 at c2h4losangeles.com (at 9:00 a.m. PST). The price was not announced yet.
Update: The GM-5600C2H424-8 was also announced in China by Casio as a January release, with a price of 1,490 yuan.
C2H4®, named after the molecular formula for ethylene, was founded in 2014 by female designer Yixi Chen and “combines influences curated from science and subversive culture.” The popular brand has been a favorite of various high-profile celebrities over the years. C2H4® is also offering the Casio AQ-800E Dreamer’s Set, which includes an AQ-800E watch, a C2H4® Zinc Alloy Spinning Top, and a C2H4® Pouch Bag, for $115 at c2h4losangeles.com. C2H4® off-shoot Chemist Creations released a G-Shock GW-B5600AR-1 collaboration in 2020 in China (elite-timepiecehk.com).
