One-of-one G-Shock G-D001 Development Story Video plus more auction details

Casio released a Development Story video about the 18-karat gold 40th Anniversary Dream Project G-Shock G-D001, which is introduced by G-Shock creator Kikuo Ibe. The video gives a behind-the-scenes look at the planning of the watch, as described by members of the Dream Project team, and provides more insight into how AI was used to aid in the design. It also shows more details of the watch and includes more information about the all-new movement (featuring 55 rubies) and new gallium solar cell technology.

The one-of-one watch will be sold at the The New York Watch Auction: NINE by auction house Phillips in New York City. The watch is Lot 79 and will be sold during Session II on December 10, 2023, starting at 10:00 a.m. Registration is now open to place advance bids and to bid live in the digital saleroom. According to the auction listing, the price estimate is $70,000 to $140,000. This is a no reserve auction with the proceeds going to charity. The buyer may be able to claim a charitable contribution deduction, subject to local laws. Phillips states that the G-D001 watch will be customized for the buyer’s location and is expected to be delivered in the first quarter of 2024 by Casio.
