Despite it having a higher price than previous GMW-BZ5000 models, online pre-orders for the G-Shock GMW-BZ5000RC-1 sold out on the first day at the official Casio websites in Japan and China, as well as at large Japanese retailers like Bic Camera and Yodobashi Camera. The full metal GMW-BZ5000RC-1 is a Japan-made limited edition featuring a rainbow IP case. If you’re eyeing this model in another country, maybe don’t sleep on it too much, but at the same time, not all countries follow the purchasing patterns of Japan with every release.
The GMW-BZ5000 series, launched in late 2025, appears to be a winner for G-Shock, as other models like the GMW-BZ5000D-1JF and GMW-BZ5000BD-1JF are widely sold out in Japan. As the first full metal series with an MIP LCD display featuring higher contrast and better viewing angles than a traditional TN or STN LCD display, the GMW-BZ5000 offers two font types and three timekeeping display options, including one that displays three time zones.

Pre-orders for the environmentally-themed GW-BX5600CBG-2JR (below), a limited edition resin model with an MIP LCD display and an ocean-inspired cloth band made of recycled fishing nets, have not sold out yet, despite the only other GW-BX5600 models (GW-BX5600-1JF and GW-BX5600-1A1JF) still being sold out online and at most stores.
