A Bathing Ape (commonly known as BAPE) is a ’90s streetwear brand from Japan with a long history of G-Shock collaborations that began in 1998. It has used a variety of G-Shock series for its releases over the years, but it is perhaps best known for its DW-6900 watches, such as the ones Pharrell Williams customized with Jacob & Co. Following the Kid Cudi G-Shock in 2021 and the absence of a G-Shock collab in 2022, BAPE is celebrating its 30th Anniversary in 2023 with the release of the limited edition G-Shock GM-6900BAPE-1.
This deluxe black and gold model has a black ion plated stainless steel bezel with BAPE camo markings and includes a black resin band with camo markings and a cloth band with the full camouflage pattern. The BAPE logo and “Busy Works” is printed on the face of the watch, and the front light button has “(B)” on it rather than the usual “G.” The watch has gold side buttons and a gold case back with a 30th Anniversary logo engraving.
GM-6900 releases haven’t been a regular occurrence lately, and the last few were also limited editions. The GM-6900BAPE-1 is the first GM-6900 model to be equipped with Module 3529, which is the same module that new DW-6900 models are using with the LED backlight and increased battery life of about five years.
G-Shock U.S. has the watch listed at casio.com/us as “Coming Soon” with a price of $350 and a stated November release. BAPE U.S. also announced the watch on Instagram (embedded below) and stated that it will be available on November 4 at A Bathing Ape authorized stores and at us.bape.com. BAPE U.K. also announced the watch on Instagram with availability on November 4 at the BAPE Store London and uk.bape.com.
Casio Singapore will be selling this model with a new method. Casio ID users are required to register their interest to purchase the watch from October 26 to November 1. On November 3, they will receive an email with a code to purchase the watch online on November 4 at 11:00, when the watch will be sold on a first come first served basis while stocks last.
