Facetasm x G-Shock DW-5900FA-1 with smoke blue face and handwritten design

Japanese fashion brand Facetasm is releasing its third G-Shock collaboration with the DW-5900FA-1. The limited edition watch features the brand’s smoke blue color for the face and has a handwritten style for the labels and Facetasm logo. The face also has translucent properties around the edges, which is apparent when the EL backlight is activated. The black base with green and red bezel lettering is inspired by the DW-5900E-1 from 1992, which was the first watch ever purchased by designer Hiromichi Ochiai.

The DW-5900 series was first launched in 1992 and was revived in 2018 during the G-Shock 35th Anniversary. It was the first G-Shock with the “Triple Graph” style of LCD display, which would later be adopted by the DW-6900 in 1995. Features of the modern DW-5900 include world time, 1/100-second stopwatch (59’59.99” max, with elapsed, split, 1st-2nd place times), 24-hour countdown timer (settable in minutes and hours), 5 daily alarms with 1 snooze, hourly time signal, EL backlight with 1.5 or 3 second afterglow, full auto calendar, button sound on/off, 12/24-hour format, and battery life of approximately 5 years.

Facetasm was founded in 2007 by Bunka Fashion College graduate Hiromichi Ochiai. Previous G-Shock collaborations include a DW-5600 from 2017 and a limited DWE-5610 parts offering on the My G-Shock custom watch service in Japan.

The DW-5900FA-1 was announced for a May 2023 release in Asia so far.

Update: In Japan, the DW-5900FA-1JR has a tax-included retail price of 19,800 yen.
