Full stainless steel Casio A1000DN-7 limited set includes metal and cloth bands

Part of the Classic Premium Series, the Casio A1000DN-7JR is currently in the pre-order stage at retailers in Japan (but is not listed at casio.com/jp), with a July 12 release date.

Unlike Casio’s more affordable metallic-style digital watches (such as the A158 and A168) which have a chrome-plated resin case and resin glass, the A1000 has a full stainless steel case, but it’s not a “screw lock back” or “screw-back” like the G-Shock GMW-B5000. Other features of the A1000DN-7 include water resistance, mineral glass, 1/100-second stopwatch (max 59’59.99”, with elapsed, split, 1st-2nd place times), alarm, hourly time signal, LED backlight, and auto calendar. The compatible band size is 150 to 205 millimeters, and the battery life is approximately 3 years on a CR1616 battery. The watch measures 39.6 x 38 x 7.3 millimeters and weighs 93 grams with the stainless steel band.

What we like about this particular model is the tool watch aesthetic, as many previous A1000 models leaned more toward their luxury stylings. This model appears to have the same silver monotone case and face style as the A1000MA-7VT (casio.com/us) but includes both a more conventional style of stainless steel band and a gray cloth band, offering more versatility and perhaps more appeal to men than the A1000MA-7VT. The set appears to be a limited edition, based on the Japanese model name ending in “JR” compared to other A1000 models.

The A1000DN-7JR has a tax-included price of 19,800 yen. While it is certainly deserving of a worldwide release, we don’t know if that will happen.
