Update: Hodinkee released the G-SHOCK Ref. 5600 By Ben Clymer on February 1 for $185 at shop.hodinkee.com, with $5 from every watch sold going to the The Horological Society of New York watchmaking guild and charity. (This watch includes free domestic shipping and discounted flat rate international shipping.) The design is inspired by various watch elements from Clymer’s life and Hodinkee’s history, including the quote “Esse Quam Videri” (“To be, rather than to seem”) from Henry Graves, Jr. engraved on the case back. Along with the quote, his name, and the Hodinkee logo, the case back also has an engraved message of gratitude from Clymer. This DW-5600 model is equipped with module 3229, and the Hodinkee “H” logo appears when the EL backlight is activated.

A new limited edition G-Shock watch designed in collaboration with Hodinkee founder Ben Clymer is expected to launch soon. According to a subscriber email, the watch is scheduled to be released on February 1, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. ET., but we are unable to confirm this. Although we are on the subscription list, we did not receive this email but saw a copy of it online at a third-party site (deal.town). Also, WatchPro published but then removed an article about the watch, probably because it was published earlier than intended.
Hodinkee previously collaborated with G-Shock for limited releases with John Mayer (3), Ed Sheeran, and Online Ceramics. Hodinkee has also collaborated with other watch brands, and this is the first collaboration to bear Ben Clymer’s name. The watch is expected to be a DW5600.
Benjamin “Ben” Clymer founded Hodinkee in 2008 while earning his master’s degree at Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. Widely regarded as the top horological website in the world, Hodinkee also operates an online shop where the new G-Shock will be sold.
