G-Shock GMW-B5000 Full-Metal Square Video Reviews

The full-metal G-Shock GMW-B5000D-1 and GMW-B5000TFG-9 have been available in Japan for about a month and are now becoming available in North America from authorized dealers for their non-inflated retail prices. Now those of us who bought the G-Shock GW-5035A-1 are starting to wonder if we should have saved our money for one of these beautiful and historic models (or just buy all of them). The GMW-B5000 features a full stainless steel case and band, screw-lock case back, Tough Solar/Multi-Band 6, and Bluetooth connectivity.

The following review videos may help you decide whether to buy one of these full-metal squares. If you’re on the fence they may push you over the edge, as the watches look even better on video than they do in photos.

The first video is from Bruce Williams and he is very enthusiastic about his GMW-B5000D-1. The mirror finish on the body looks great in the sunny outdoor shots, and we see how the brushed finish of the bezel prevents distracting glare. This video points out that the buttons are larger compared to other 5000-5600 watches and are easy to press. Another interesting point is that extra weight doesn’t bother him and he finds the watch comfortable to wear.

Next, Random Rob has a brief unboxing video of the GMW-B5000D-1 and his first impression is favorable. Again the watch looks great in this video. Rob also did an informative bracelet resizing video and is planning to do a full review video later.

Lastly, Watch Hobbyist goes very in-depth on the GMW-B5000D-1 and GMW-B5000TFG-9 in this 44-minute video. He takes a look at the G-Shock Connected smartphone app, gives an overview of the watch functions, and makes comparisons to other G-Shock watches.
