G-Shock is releasing another luxury MRG-B2100 watch with the MRG-B2100D-2A featuring a blue dial. The colors are inspired by The Five-Storied Pagoda on Mt. Haguro in the Yamagata Prefecture, home of Casio’s “mother factory” where the MR-G line is manufactured. The 10th-century pagoda was designated as a National Treasure in 1966 and is known as the oldest pagoda in the Tohoku region. The indigo blue dial, a color traditionally known as “hanada-iro,” is based on the vision of the pagoda enshrouded in the morning mist at dawn. The blue color of the dial changes its hue depending on the lighting and viewing angle. Like previous MRG-B2100 models, the watch has the kigumi-inspired dial pattern with a 3D texture.
As a peak 2100 model, the case and bezel are made with a Ti64 titanium alloy, and the top bezel is made of the Cobarion alloy. The band is made of DAT55G, and the watch is treated with a titanium carbide coating for scratch resistance. The watch weighs 49.5 x 44.4 x 13.6 millimeters and weighs 122 grams. Features include Tough Solar power, Multi-Band 6 auto radio time correction, Bluetooth smartphone link, sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating, full auto-calendar, date display and day indicator, and LED light.
The MRG-B2100D-2AJR is listed as coming soon in January with a list price of 572,000 yen, which is the same price as the MRG-B2100D-1AJR with a black dial. (The price of the MRGB2100D-1A in the U.S. is $4,200.)
