Kikuo Ibe interviewed by Wei Koh of Revolution Watch

Wei Koh of Singapore-based magazine and retailer Revolution Watch recently interviewed Casio engineer and G-Shock creator Kikuo Ibe. Koh’s enthusiasm for meeting and talking to the father of G-Shock is apparent, and Ibe’s affable and humble nature is on full display.

The interview covers a range of topics, including G-Shock’s current popularity, collaborations, luxury models, the full titanium GMW-B5000TB-1, Carbon Core Guard models, the current status of the full sapphire concept G-Shock, the solid gold G-D5000-9, G-Shock’s approach to design, and Ibe’s dream for the future.

At the end of the interview, Koh asks Ibe if he owns any mechanical watches and what his favorite mechanical watch is. You probably already know what the answer is, from the man who is always seen wearing a 5600 series G-Shock.
