Madness x G-Shock G-LIDE GLX-5600MAD19-1 for 2020

Shawn Yue’s clothing label Madness made waves in 2018 with its G-Shock DW-5000MD-1 limited edition, which was a rare screw-back collaboration with the origin DW-5000 model.

Now for 2020, Madness taps the G-LIDE surfing line for the release of the G-Shock G-LIDE GLX-5600MAD19-1. This watch has a matte gray bezel and band, a gray face with an orange border around the display, and a Madness logo on the lower face. The case back also sports an imprinted Madness logo.

The base GLX-5600 is water-resistant to 200 meters and has a tide and moon phase graph. Other features include moon age data, auto EL backlight, flash alert, world time, 1/100 stopwatch (with 5 second countdown auto start), countdown timer (up to 24 hours, with auto repeat), 3 multi-function alarms with 1 snooze, and approximate 7-year battery life. The watch comes in a translucent orange case.

Sales will be available by lottery at www.mdnsonline.com, with registration from 00:00 (GMT + 8) on March 15, 2020 (Sunday), to 12:00 noon on March 16, 2020 (Monday). The Madness Beijing store will also be holding a lottery to select buyers, with registration from 12:00 noon (GMT + 8) on March 15, 2020 (Sunday), to 18:00, March 16, 2020 (Monday). Customers can also register by phone (010-8440-4251) for the Beijing store lottery.

There is also a “basic version,” perhaps without the special case, that will be released at G-Shock Casio Stores in Hong Kong on March 28, 2020.
