What started as an unusual and unexpected collaboration in 2022 with the Mother video game has turned into somewhat of a tradition, with a DW-6900 collab released in 2024 for the Mother 2 30th anniversary and a DW-5600 being released soon to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Mother 3 video game.
Featuring a vibrant yellow bezel and band inspired by the sunflower field of the game’s Chapter 6, the watch has a Mother 3 logo on the face, a red display border, gold wire face protector, and multiple Mr. Saturn characters printed on the band. Pixel art of the sunflower field appears on the LED backlight, and the case back is engraved with the Japanese characters for “Potential!”
The watch will be sold in Japan by lottery for 19,800 yen. Applications will be accepted online at Mother’s Shop starting on July 17, 2026 (11:00 a.m.) and close on July 30, 2026 (11:00 a.m.). For more information, visit www.1101.com. The watch will also be on display at Tobichi Tokyo from July 14 to 29.
Mother 3 was released for the Game Boy in Japan only, but Westerners may be familiar with the series from EarthBound (Mother 2, 1994, SNES) released in the U.S. in 1995 and the EarthBound Beginnings (Mother, 1989, NES) U.S. release on Wii Virtual Console in 2015.
