Surfrider Foundation collaboration returns with solar G-Shock G-5600SRF-1

Surfrider Foundation x G-Shock G-5600SRF-1 for 2024

Launching in June is a special collaboration with the non-profit environmental organization Surfrider Foundation. The limited edition G-Shock G-5600SRF-1 is a Tough Solar-powered model featuring the NGO’s logo on the face and case back, along with the tag “#oceanfriendlylifestyle” printed on the band keeper. The California-based Surfrider Foundation was a frequent partner on collaborative G-Shock releases in the mid to late 1990s, with the last one launched in 2010. (See the previous collaborations at shockbase.com.) The organization is “dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of the world’s ocean, waves, and beaches” and celebrates its 40th anniversary this year.

G-Shock G-5600SRF-1 Display and Band

Like the recent G-5600BG-1, the black bezel and band are mixed and molded with recycled resin scraps, which gives each watch its own unique appearance with random patterns of white specks. The black resin of this model also comes from recycled pieces. Features of the G-5600 base include shock resistance, 200-meter water resistance, world time with 5 settings, 1/100-second stopwatch (1-second after one hour), 24-hour countdown timer, 5 daily alarms with 1 snooze, full auto LED backlight, and adjustable date format. The watch measures 46.7 x 43.2 x 12.7 millimeters and weighs 47 grams.

In Japan, the G-5600SRF-1JR will be released on June 8 with a tax-included price of 19,800 yen. The G-5600SRF-1 is also expected to be released internationally.
