Legendary ’90s hip hop group Wu-Tang Clan is releasing its second G-Shock collaboration to celebrate the group’s 30th anniversary. The limited G-Shock GM6900WTC22-9 has a glossy black ion plated stainless steel bezel and is a tribute to the song “C.R.E.A.M.” (Cash Rules Everything Around Me). The song title is printed on the yellow border around the face. “W” logos appear on the face and band, and “WU-TANG” appears on the LCD display when the EL backlight is activated.
The GM6900WTC22-9 has a price of $280 and will be sold by contest at gshock.casio.com/us (listed as GM6900WTC229). The entry period ends February 26 at 11:59 p.m. EST. The contest is open to Casio I.D. members who are U.S. residents over 18 years of age. The contest works like a lottery, with those winning being charged and sent the watch. This is the first collaboration and the second limited edition watch to be sold in this manner at G-Shock U.S.
Augustine Los Angeles is giving away three GM6900WTC22-9 watches (see Instagram post below) and will be selling the watch on February 27 (11:00 a.m. PST) at augustine.la and in-store. (International shipping appears to be available.)
Bodega (bdgastore.com) may also be selling the watch on February 27 at 10 a.m. EST. (There was a blog post from Bodega announcing it, but it appears to be deleted now.)
Widely considered to be one of the most influential hip hop groups of all time, Wu-Tang Clan was founded in 1992 in Staten Island, New York City. The group released the seminal album Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) in 1993 and released six more studio albums spanning up to 2015, with many members also having successful solo careers. The group has also supported a large number of affiliated artists over the years. Wu-Tang Clan will be playing at Clockenflap music festival in Hong Kong on March 3-5, followed by more shows in South America, United States, United Kingdom, and Europe.
