Surfer Bettylou Sakura Johnson joins Team G-Shock

Rising surfing star Bettylou Sakura Johnson has officially partnered with Casio America as a Team G-Shock athlete. The 18-year-old Haleiwa native started surfing at the age of six on the North Shore of Oahu and was also active in gymnastics and dirt bike riding as a child. In 2021, Johnson won the Michelob Ultra Pure Gold Haleiwa Challenger event in Hawaii at the age of 16. In 2022, she became the Women’s Champion of the Vans US Open of Surfing and won the 2022 Women’s Challengers Series of the World Surfing League. Her recent semi-finals heat versus Molly Picklum in the 2024 Lexus Pipe Pro (youtube.com) at Banzai Pipeline was described as “one of the greatest heats of all time.” Johnson is currently ranked third in the 2024 WSL World Championship Tour and will next compete in the Hurley Pro Sunset Beach event.

Johnson said of the partnership, “I am truly honored to join Team G-SHOCK and deeply grateful for the support as I pursue my dreams in professional surfing. The commitment of G-SHOCK to absolute toughness and resilience deeply resonates with me, and I am excited about the incredible journey ahead.”
