CMK-100: Casio’s automatic titanium field watch has a German influence (plus WatchDavid reviews all models)

Casio CMK100 Automatic Titanium Field Watch

The all-new automatic and titanium Casio CMK-100 series features a simple yet stylish design that brings to mind niche watch brands such as Sinn and Unimatic. The 6-9-12 numbers are the same style as the numbers on the Sinn 556 A, which was directly inspired by German airplane clocks and instrument panels from the mid-20th-century that used Germany’s DIN 1451 typeface standard established in 1931. (The typeface was first used by several German and Swiss watch brands in the 1940s.)

The thick round bezel (with titanium carbide coating) and knurled crown offer a rugged field watch style, and the 38mm watch is available with a variety of straps, including genuine leather, cloth, and stainless steel. Casio has not disclosed the specific movement other than saying it is made in Japan, but it is presumed to be the Miyota 8215 featuring 21 jewels and a 42-hour power reserve. The CMK-100 also has a sapphire crystal, magnetic resistance, and 100-meter water resistance.
